Michel Leduc / Marguerite Nantais

Below is the Grandfather of Eugene Leduc, along with their children.  I will continue to post the Leduc ancestors, working my way back to France.  As always, I would love to hear from some long lost cousins.

4. Michel Leduc

Son of Francois Barthelemy Leduc and Marguerite Major

Born on 23 Sep 1823 at Saint-Joseph-de-Soulanges in Les Cèdres, Québec, Canada.

He died on 23 Mar 1882 at the age of 58 in Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

Michel was buried on 24 Mar 1882 at Saint Alphonsus Cemetery in Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

Michel Leduc and Marguerite Nantais were married on 23 Feb 1846 at Assumption in Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

They lived in Windsor, Essex, Ontario, Canada in 1861. Census Canada West Essex 578


5. Marguerite Nantais


Daughter of John Baptist Nantais and Monica Deshetres, was

Born on 2 May 1827 at Assumption in Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada.3

She died on 8 Apr 1908 at the age of 80 in Hamtramack, Wayne, Michigan, United States. Obituary The Detroit Times. Note: obit shows her age as 82

Burried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States (Tier 7 Grave Lot 816 Sec. 6).

Funeral was from son’s residence/St. John’s Church.

Alt Spelling: Margaret or Marie A. Nantais.3 Marguerite was also known as Nantais.


Michel Leduc and Marguerite Nantais had the following children:


i. Joseph Dauphine Leduc, born 17 Nov 1847, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States; married Josephine Dupre, 1 May 1871, Pointe-Aux-Roches, Essex, Ontario, Canada; married Maggie Dightman, bet 1879 and 1887; died 9 Jul 1916, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States.

ii. Louis Noah Leduc, born 23 Mar 1850, Ontario, Canada; married Rosalie Bolduc.

iii. Phyllis Leduc was born in 1852. She died in 1854 at the age of 2.

iv. Israel Jacob Leduc (Father of Eugene) , born 21 Oct 1854, Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada; married Aurelia Massicot, 6 Sep 1881, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States; died 11 Jun 1942, Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan, United States.

v. Ambrose N, Leduc, born 13 Sep 1857, Ontario, Canada; married Teresa Peters, 12 Jun 1883, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States; died 1949.

vi. Jean Leduc was born in Oct 1860 in Ontario, Canada. He was also known as Johnny Leduc. 1861 Census Married 1903 St Anne, Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States.

vii. Elizabeth Leduc, born Sep 1862; married John Perry.

viii. Francis Leduc, born Jan 1864; married Delia Leyruin, 17 May 1887, Sandwich, Essex, Ontario, Canada.

    • I was able to link up our trees at Louis SEDILOT m. Marie GRIMOUT. I will see if I can match up the Leduc line with a book I have. At first glance, they did not look familiar.

        Georgette Georgine LEDUC – Her Son came to Canada, not in my Leduc book.

        My Leduc Family is a Descendant of Pierre Leduc from Rouen, Normandie, France.
